At first mobiles were named as mobile radios and were only used by the cops of United States on an experimental basis. Ericsson was the first company that released world's first fully automatic mobile phone at Sweden in 1956. It weighed about 40 kg. Later in 1973 was the first portable mobile was introduced.

From that time the development in mobile technology was vast till dated. At present we have mobiles with thickness less than 10mm. We have Samsung SGH-U100 as the worlds thinnest phone with thickness 5.9mm but its a basic mobile with limited features. We have Samsung l9100 Galaxy SII with the thickness of 8.5mm which can be considered as the slimmest with all the features. But the standard company believed by the entire globe, which created a revolution in thin mobiles is Apple. The latest creation was iphone 4 with a great display resolution and thickness of 9.3mm and metallic finish. There next is the iphone 5 which is in progress.
